We whole-heartedly agree with the motto of the American Camp Association.....
In fact, camps provide people of all ages life changing experiences that promote self-esteem, build skills, develop relationship, and establish values.
CAMPS - to campers - are simple places....relaxed, fun, spontaneous, invigorating.
CAMPS - to owners and staff - are challenging and complex enterprises....extensive property and buildings, large and diverse staffs (year-round, seasonal, young, mature, program, operational, paid, volunteer, international), and multi-layered financial systems. Add to this complexity increasing regulations, higher expectations by campers, parents, and sponsoring agencies, increased behavioral problems, competition in the marketplace, and changing rules for not-for-profits...WHEW! And yet, the field is thriving!!
One of the reasons camps continue to thrive is increased professionalism:

In an effort to create a more organized World Wide Web, the W3C has created many new Web layout standards. The key focus of their effort is to provide the best possible interoperability between the different browsing programs available.
In the days of the browser wars between Netscape and Microsoft, many hacks were propagated by the competing companies. However, today these hacks have done more to hurt the Web than to help the battling companies. By downloading and installing one of the programs listed above, the Web will be one step closer to eliminating these hacks and bugs.
